If neither your ranking nor your SEO has changed, you probably just need to put in a little bit of effort The methods vary from technical practices you can achieve behind the scenes on your website (we tend to refer to this as ‘on-page SEO’) to all the promotional ’off-page’ approaches you can use to raise your site’s visibility (link-building, social media marketing). Long form content is an inbound marketing tool that has recently grown in popularity amongst marketing professionals. These pieces of content go against the trend toward smaller and more easily digestible pieces of content. Let’s not forget the speed of your site, not just because we all browse the web a lot more on our mobile devices, over not-so-broadband networks, but also because a fast site makes Google and in most cases your conversion rate happier. Including a Contact Us page on your website and putting the link in the navigation not only makes for good user experience (especially if you have an ecommerce site) but can also potentially earn you some Google juice.

Play right into their hands by making those signals real and not artificial! A local business competitor might not be your online competitor — welcome to a bigger game of tug-of-war. As you work to improve your SEO, it’s your ongoing job to stay ahead of the competition and detect emerging rivals as they climb the ranks. Trends adjusts search data to make comparisons between terms easier. Each data point is divided by the total searches of the geography and time range it represents, to compare relative popularity. Search engine crawlers and indexingprograms are basically software programs. These programs are extraordinarily powerful. Everyone is familiar with the expression “content is king.” Without rich content, you will find it difficult to achieve good rankings with specific keywords and to direct traffic to your website. Link building is a long-term project that never ends, and it is a natural part of the ongoing marketing cycle. In order to remain relevant to both search engines and human beings alike, you need to regularly acquire fresh links for your website. Fresh links create exposure to new audiences and signal continuing engagement to search engines. When improving your page speed, you should always ask yourself if you need all these assets, libraries, images, plugins, theme features and so on. The famous saying “less is more” is still as valuable as ever. Google will penalize spammy sites, and unfortunately this causes some bad behavior from bad actors. Say, for example, you wanted to take out a competitor. You could send a bunch of obviously spammy links to their site and get them penalized. This is called “negative SEO,” and is something that happens often in highly contested keywords. Google generally tries to pretend like it doesn’t happen.
