Hello, this is Masako Stewart.

As you all may know, Hurricane Harvey has caused devastating damages to the city of Houston, Texas.

Citizens of San Diego have sparked a grassroots movement by collecting donations to help with relief efforts.

During disasters like Harvey, people across the nation look to social media to figure out which items are most needed by the victims of the hurricane. There were two donation collections, yesterday and today, in San Diego.

Instructor Junko Horie and Masa Horie, who creates our newsletters, came up with the idea of donating the iQix socks to support this cause.

There were many volunteers at the Lincoln High School in San Diego today.

Young boys (probably in elementary/middle school) assisted us in unloading our donations.

The clothes, water, shoes, and socks, among other items loaded onto the delivery trucks, will be delivered directly by the volunteers so that they can ensure it reaches the people in need.

The leaders of the volunteer team were so heartbroken to see the devastation that their friends and families in Houston have endured, so they worked to get the help of moving truck companies to deliver these donations.

They thought to themselves, what can I personally do to help?

Even small children were helping load the trucks and putting away cardboard boxes.

We must come together and do whatever we can to help during times like these.
