この課では条件法過去をさらに詳しく学びます。
亜希子先生：
亀の噴水。この噴水の亀の無いバージョンを見たかったなあと言っていたブルーノ。一体どういうことなのでしょうか？
マッテオ先生：
Ascoltiamo il dialogo.

●今週のスキット
La Fontana delle Tartarughe（The Turtle Fountain）
「亀の噴水」
B: Bruno Y: Yuri
B: A Roma ci sarebbero tante belle fontane da vedere, ma questa è la mia preferita.
Y: Ci sono tante tartarughe.
B: Avrei voluto vederla anche senza tartarughe.
Y: Cioè?
B: Quando l'architetto l'ha costruita nel sedicesimo secolo, non c'erano ancora.
Y: Davvero? Allora lui non pensava che avrebbero aggiunto delle tartarughe.
B: Sì, le hanno messe durante i lavori di restauro, ma a me piace tantissimo così.

B: There would be many beautiful fountains in Rome to see, but this is my favorite.
Y: There are so many turtles.
B: I would have liked to see it even without turtles.
Y: That is?
B: When the architect built it in the 16th century, they weren't there yet.
Y: Really? Then he didn't think they would add some turtles.
B: Yes, they put them on during the restoration work, but I really like it that way.

★条件法過去の作り方
『avere（have）の条件法現在の活用形+過去分詞』
又は『essere（be）の条件法現在の活用形+過去分詞』
※基本的には、移動や状態を表す動詞にはessereを使う。
マッテオ先生：
Però, siccome ci sono anche molte eccezioni, forse è meglio fare un piccolo ripasso. Che ne dici?
（However, since there are also many exceptions, perhaps it is better to do a little review. What do you think?）
亜希子先生：
そうですね。avereとessereの使い分けが難しいものをもう一度復習しながら、条件法過去の形を確認しましょう。
Senza il tuo aiuto noi non avremmo potuto finire il lavoro.
（Without your help we couldn't have finished the job.）
※finireなのでavereを使う。
Mi sarebbe piaciuto tanto comprare quella borsa.
（I would have loved to buy that bag.）
※【補足】avere（have）の条件法現在の活用

●Impariamo ２（Let's learn ２）
亜希子先生：
条件法過去の別の使いかたを確認しましょう。
▼これまで「～だったのに」と実現しなかったことに対する願望を表す条件法過去の使いかたをみてきました。
▼しかし、今回のスキットに出てくる条件法過去は今まで見てきたものとは別の使い方をしています。
Questo è un uso del condizionale molto particolare che vale solo per la forma passata.
（This is a very particular use of the conditional which only applies to the past form.）
▼これは条件法現在の使いかたでは出てこなかった条件法過去だけの特殊な使いかたです。
▼それは過去から見た未来のことを表わす使い方。つまり、過去のある時点で「～だろうと思っていた」という表現ですね。
▼今回のキット中では、建築家が噴水を作った過去の時点では、この噴水に将来的に亀が追加されるだろうなんて思ってもいなかった、と条件法過去によって過去から見た未来のことが表されていましたよ。他の例文でも確認してみましょう。
Pensavo che Laura sarebbe tornata presto.
（I thought Laura would be back soon.）
Mi hai detto che non lo avresti detto a nessuno.
（You told me you wouldn't tell anyone.）

亜希子先生：
さて、今回ご紹介するローマ豆知識は？
マッテオ先生：
La Fontana delle Tartarughe senza tartarughe?
（The Turtle Fountain without turtles?）
「亀のいない亀の噴水？」
亜希子先生：
今回のスキットの舞台である亀の噴水の亀が、まさか後から付けられたものとは驚きですよね。
マッテオ先生：
Eh, sì. Senza tartarughe, però, come avrebbero fatto a chiamarla Fontana delle tartarughe?
（Well yes. Without turtles, though, how would they have called it Turtle Fountain?）
亜希子先生：
確かに亀の噴水に亀がなければ、亀の噴水とは呼べないですよね。この噴水はもともと16世紀にこの一帯の土地を所有していたローマの名門マッテイ家の命で、建築家ジャコモ・デッラ・ポルタの設計のもと、タッデーオ・ランディーニによって作られました。この時デッラ・ポルタは４体の青年像と、８体のイルカをランディーに注文したと言います。
マッテオ先生：
Effettivamente ci sono quattro efebi sotto i piedi dei quali abbiamo rispettivamente quattro delfini, ma gli altri quattro delfini dove sono andati a finire.
（Effectively there are four ephebes under the feet of which we have four dolphins respectively, but where did the other four dolphins go?
亜希子先生：
そうなんです。現在この噴水には４体の青年像とその青年の足元に、それぞれ１体ずつのイルカがいるだけです。８体中残りの４体のイルカは、最終的にこの噴水ではなく、現在キエーザ・ヌオーヴァの前にあるテッリーナの噴水に使われました。そして、それから70年以上経って教皇アレクサンデル７世のときに噴水の修復が行われた時、亀が足されることになったんです。ちなみにこの亀はあのベルニーニの作品の可能性も指摘されているんですよ。しかもこの亀、実は何度も盗難に遭っているんです。
マッテオ先生：
Ma come? Allora siamo punto e a capo. La Fontana delle tartarughe senza tartarughe?
（But how? So we're back to square one. The Turtle Fountain without turtles?）
亜希子先生：
幸いにも後で見つかったのでご安心ください。でも現在、噴水についているのは実はレプリカで、オリジナルはカピトリーノ美術館に保管されています。やっぱり亀の噴水には亀がいなきゃね！
