In short, I have nothing. A nice no-extra-baggage kind of feeling, if you want to put it a positive spin on it. Though I doubt you can appreciate how that feels.

　I shake my head. "Well, I don't know what I am, either."
　"A classic identity crisis."
　I nod.

　"I don't care what you are. Whatever you are, like you." I tell him I've never said this to anybody in my whole life, and the words make me blush.
　"I appreviate it," Oshima says, and lays a gentle hand on my shoulder. "I know I'm a little different from everyone else, but still I'm a human being. That's what I'd like you to realise. I'm just a normal person, not some monster. I feel the same things everyone else does, act the same way. Sometimes, though, that small differnce feels like an abyss. But I guess there's not much I can do about it." He picks up a long, sharpened oencil from the counter and gazes at it as if it's an extention of himself. "I wanted to tell you all this as soon as I could, directly, rather than have you hear it from someone else. So I guess today was a good oppotunity. It wasn't such a pleasant experience, thoughm was it?"

　"At any rate, what you've been saying is fundamentally wrong," Oshima says, calmly yet emphatically. "I am most different not a pathtic, his totical exmple of a patriarchial male."

You protect vested male interests and become injured to the pain of others, and don't even try to see what evei your blindless causes women and society. I realize that problems with toilets and card catalogues are mere details, but if we don't begin with the small things we'll never be able to throw off the cloak of blindness that covers our society. 　背の高い女性は自分がどこかで過ちを犯したらしいことに気づく。彼女は頬が少し赤くなる。しかしそれは 大島さんの性的アピールがもたらしたものではない。彼女は大勢を立て直そうと試みる。 「とにかくジャンボ・ジェットの問題はここでは関係がありません。無関係なことを持ち出して話を混乱させないで ください」

　"Yes, that's right. The person who was in charge before us catalogued these and for whatever reason divided them into male and female. We were thinking of recataloging all of them, but haven't been able to as of yet."
　"We're not critising you for this," she says.
　Oshima tilts his head.
　"The problem, though, is that in all categories male authours are listed before female authors," sha says. "To our way of thinking this violetes the principle of sexual equality and is grossly unfair.
　
　
　Understood = わたりました。 I understand と I understood の違い。
　基本的に、I understand は I knowも同様ですが、 現在形で使う事が多い。
　なにか説明してもらって、「分かりました」というのなら、基本的には I understand (now). です。
　ただ、実際に映画を見てると、
　Understood! というセリフも沢山出てきます。
　ネイティブによると、I が付くなら、I understandらしいのですが、 前になにも付けないで「Understood!」と言うのも同じ意味になるそうです。
　この理由として、Understood と一言だけ言った場合、それは It is understoodを意味してるからです。
　It’s understoodというのは、つまり受け身です。
　I understand と同じ意味で、ネイティブはよくI get it! ととも言います。
　ただ、I get it!とI got it!にほとんど違いはありません。どちらを使っても「分かった！」という感じです。ネイティブ的にも特に大きな違いはないとの事です。

　「ただしこの図書館では、すべての分類において、男性の著者が女性の著者より先に来ています」と彼女は いう。「私たちの考えるところによると、これは男女平等のいう原則に反し、攻勢を欠いた処置です」
　
232　Oshima picks up her business card again, runs his eyes over it, then lays it back on the counder. "Ms. Soga," he begins, "when they called the register in school your name would have come before MS Tanaka, and after Ms Sekine. Did you object, asking them to reverse the order? Does G get angry because it follows F in the alphabet? Does page 68 in a book start a revolution just because it follows 67?"
