一時はどうなるかと思ったけれど、無事にブラームスのレクイエムのコンサートを終えた。
2000人以上のお客さんが来て、立ち見まで出るという予想だにしない大盛況だった。
リハーサルでまずかった箇所をほとんど全て直すことができて、合唱もオーケストラとバランスを取り得るぐらいのパワーが出ていた。しかし、合唱指導に当たってくれたBates College ChoirとAndroscoggin Chorale のディレクター、John Corrie氏には頭が下がる。合唱団の踏み台の準備から、オーガナイゼーションの細部に至るまで、嫌な顔一つせずJohnはまめに働いてくださった。ベイツ・カレッジで教鞭をとって３０年以上になるベテランが、僕のような青二才を一生懸命にたててくれた。感謝の言葉もない。
Brahms' Requiem Concert ended in a success, feeling so relieved.
I can't thank John Corrie enough for all the meticulous and hard work in organizaing and directing the Bates College Choir and Androscoggin Chorale. I couldn't have done this without him....and that is the simple truth. Over 2000 people came and surprised all of us; I was glad that the concert happened out of the synergy between the College and the community.
I want to thank everyone who put their hard work into organization, and musicians who gave me endless support.....
