日本滞在中は、多くの人に会う機会があるけれど、
大人数の会合は、本当はとても苦手だったりする。
そんな私の性格を見越してか、小さな集まりを企画してくださる友人がいる。
個々にゆっくり、じっくりお話しする機会と、
素晴らしいお料理の数々を用意して、最上級のおもてなしをしてくださる。
きっと前夜も寝ないで準備をしてくださったのかと思うと、頭が下がる。
私にこんなおもてなしをする才能はないけれど、
長い年月を経てもずっと支えてくださる友人に、いつかきちんとお返ししたい。

During my stay in Japan, I have the opportunity to meet many people,
I am not very good at large gatherings.
Perhaps anticipating my personality, there is a friend who organizes small gatherings.
It is a small gathering where we can talk slowly and carefully individually,
and she provides the best hospitality by preparing various wonderful dishes.
I am humbled to think she must have stayed up the night before to prepare for the event.
I don't have the talent to provide such hospitality,
But I would like to repay my friends who have always supported me even after all these years.
