小児病院近くある、病気の子どもとその家族のための滞在施設。
長女がフィラデルフィアで10時間に及ぶ大手術を受けた時に、
ドナルド・マクドナルド・ハウスの存在を知った。
1974年から現在まで、世界42カ国367カ所にも展開されていて、
病気と闘う子どもを支える家族を経済面と精神面からサポートするシステムは、
米国ではあまりにも有名で、その恩恵を授かれる機会に感謝した。
日本では2001年の「せたがやハウス」開業から始まり、現在11カ所に展開。
まだまだ認知度が低いのは、そのネーミングがネックになっているのかもしれない。
ハンバーガーのマクドナルド社は、あくまでも協賛企業の一部であって、
財団の大部分は、他の企業や個人サポーターの寄付によって支えられている。
全国のマクドナルド・ハウスに、拙著を寄贈させていただくことになり、
今年の活動は、東大病院に隣接する「東大ハウス」訪問からスタートした。
自分ができることをやる。
私たちの歩んできた道のりが、少しでも誰かのチカラになりますように。

There was accommodation for sick children and their families near the Children's Hospital.
When the eldest daughter underwent a major 10-hour operation in Philadelphia,
we learned about Donald McDonald House.
From 1974 to the present, it has been deployed in 367 locations in 42 countries worldwide.
An economic and spiritual support system for families who support children in the fight against illness was too famous in the United States.
We thanked them for the opportunity to benefit.
In Japan, the "Setagaya House" opened in 2001 and has been expanded to 11 locations.
Perhaps the reason for the low recognition might be that the naming is a neck.
The company of McDonald's is only part of the sponsoring company,
Most of the Foundation is supported by donations from other companies and individual supporters.
I had an opportunity to donate my books to McDonald House nationwide.
This year's activities started with a visit to the "Tokyo University House" next to the University of Tokyo Hospital.
I do what I can.
