西村麻里さんのアートといえば、ドラゴンと孔雀が有名だけれど、
彼女のイラスト画もまたユニークで。
ニューヨークの街に、彼女のタッチが加わると、
こんなにも愛らしいスケッチが完成する。
一緒に地下鉄に乗った時、周囲の人をちらっと見ていた。
そして後でサササッとペンをしたためる。
メモ書きみたいなスケッチに、思わず私は「捨てないで」と叫ぶ。
ニューヨークを全身で感じながら、アートが生まれていく。
写真やネットで得た情報なんかじゃない。
アーティストが本来あるべき姿がここにある。
秋のNY個展では、このイラストたちも主役の一端を担うことになった。

When we got on the subway together, she glanced at the surrounding people.
Then she sketched with pen later.
I asked her as a memo-like sketch, "Please do not trash it away"
Her art is born while feeling New York in whole body.
It is not information she got from photos and the net.
