1年前の2月７日土曜日、オーストラリアビクトリア州郊外で、大規模な山火事が起こり木々や家々を飲み込み、オーストラリアの歴史上未曾有の自然災害となりました。野生のコアラが焼けた森の跡でレスキューにペットボトルの水の飲ませてもらっている写真を覚えているのではないでしょうか？その山火事は"Black Saturday"と呼ばれています。あれから1年経ち、亡くなった173名の方や火事で得た教訓を思い出す式典が開かれました。
February 7 2009, awful bush fires killed 173 people and destroyed more than 2000 houses in Victoria state, Australia. That's called "Black Saturday". You may remember the photo in which a koala is drinking water from a plastic bottle, helped by a rescue in a forest. A service of remembrance was held this week.

Rudd reflects on Black Saturday
THE anniversary of the Black Saturday bushfires will forever be a day of mourning, but the Federal Government says it's also a day to reflect on the nation's tremendous strength.
放火とも見られていますが、自然発火によっても毎年のように山火事は起きています。水不足で感想した土地や空気、照りつける太陽、、、山火事はオーストラリアの人々にとって脅威の１つだと思います。
