８月21日に日本文化大学で行われた
全日本ID（知的障がい者）柔道大会を見学させて頂きました。
ずっと観戦したいと思っていましたが、
ようやく会場に行くことができました。
安全を重視したルール、所属の先生や保護者、大会関係者の献身的なサポート、
審判の丁寧な進行など大変勉強になりました。
感じたのは、選手にとってとても親切な大会であるということです。
学ぶことは大変多いと感じました。
特に参考になると思ったのが審判の進行です。
例えば、「指導」を出す際には、
選手それぞれが力を発揮するために優しく導くという感じで
もう少し攻めていきましょう、ヒザを着いて技を掛けましょう、
といった様子で声をかけていきます。
率直に言って新鮮に感じましたし、
ID大会だけでなく、大会の趣旨や参加選手層にあわせ、
他の大会でもこのようなやり方でやってみてもよいのではないかと思いました。
新しい形での柔道大会ができるのではないでしょうか。
また、観ている方にとっても良い影響があるような気がします。
選手の力をみんなで引き出そうとする優しい雰囲気が流れていくので
ジャッジに対しての不満が出る余地がなく、
大会全体が非常に余裕ある空気感で進んでいくのです。
このように人と人とのつながりというものを実感できる
素晴らしい大会でいろいろな学びがありました。
いろいろな方とお会いすることができましたし、
懐かしい方との再会もあり、私自身とても楽しかったです。

All Japan Adaptive Judo Competition
I went a long to observe the Adaptive Judo Competition held at Nihon Bunka University on August 21st.
I had been hoping to see it for a while, so it was great to finally be able to attend.
I learned a lot observing the rules which are focussed on safety, the dedicated support of the teachers, parents and support staff at the venue and the procedures carefully followed by the referees.
I got the impression that it was very much a participant-friendly competition, and that I could learn a lot from it.
One thing which particularly struck me was the procedures followed by the referees.
To give an example, when “Instruction” was called for it was given very kindly to help improve the performance of the athletes. Words along the lines of, “Let’s go more offensive, try that technique down on your knees.” Frankly it was very refreshing to see and something it would be great to see not only at Adaptive competitions but at other competitions too.
It could be a new model for how to run judo competitions.
I also think it had a very positive influence for the spectators.
Everyone’s aim is to help the participants give their best performance therefore there is no quibbling over decisions. The whole competition is carried out in a relaxed manner. All in all, it was a great competition and very educational with a real sense of connection between people. It was enjoyable for me as I was lucky enough to meet a lot of people, some of whom I hadn’t seen in ages.
