東京国際映画祭が世界各国の映画祭とYouTubeが実施するオンライン映画祭「We Are：A Global Festival」に参加することが決定しました。

注目したのは、bevy /bévi/ ofです。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版、大修館書店)では「｟略式｠(若い女性や鳥などの)群れ, 一団.」と定義されていました。
さらにLDOCEでは“a large group of people of the same kind, especially girls or young women”とありました。
語源をOxford Living Dictionariesでみると明らかにされていないとのことでした。
今回は「業界人」や「海外の映画製作者」たちに対して「多数の, 数々の」といった意味で用いられていますが、通例はG5にも明記されているように可愛らしい鳥や若い女性に対して用いられる単語です。
用例を「英辞郎on the WEB」でみるとbevy of girlsやbevy of quailsなどがありました。また、G5にはa bevy of beautiesという例が記載されていました。(star)
