There are two quotes which made me think about the importance of self-commitment.

“I used to think being somebody meant public recognition of one’s efforts. Wrong. I now know that the feeling of being somebody comes from hard work and self-growth. Being in control of my life makes me answer that question with a strong ‘Yes’ “ -Marilyn Funt

I know the feeling of success does not come from eternal reputations. Most of the time, it comes from inside of myself. It often comes from small things. It comes when I keep small commitments to myself. It comes when I go to the gym and lift weights as I decided to do yesterday. It comes when I keep the promises with my wife and children. It comes when I finish all my assignments of this class. It comes when I finish the projects with the best efforts. I liked the quote from Winston Churchill:

“I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat.”-Winston Churchill

If I want to be happy, I should not mind offering blood, toil, and sweat! If I dive into a lot of grinding toils with my own will, my fear for failure may fade out. Just like what the book Mastery teaches, I can enjoy the process of learning.

I am very excited about the mentor interview with Yasuda-san. I met him briefly a few months ago and had a great impression. I was amazed that he has been running his media marketing company for more than 35 years. I never liked working for a big company and managing many staffs. Being responsible for many lives of employees and their payrolls never excited me. I am much interested in how he overcame a lot of our country’s challenges in the last three decades. We had a huge economic depression at the end of the ’80s and IT revolutions in ’90s. Many businesses could not deal with the changes and lost business. While he survived these hard days, he is still very soft-spoken and fun to be around. I would like to know his business philosophy.
