島青く 海と空とを 繋ぐれば 天地分つは 浮かぶ船のみ

昨日しばし故郷の地を巡る
山陽の地は山あり海ありにして複雑なり
海辺を巡れば瀬戸の海は穏やかにして白波立たず
沖に目を遣れば小島は青く霞みて天地は定かならず

As we drove along the coast, the Seto Inland Sea was calm and there were no whitecaps.
Looking far away, the small islands are hazy blue and the horizon separating the sky and sea is unclear.
