冬至 | なんで、英語なの?

冬至

About a week ago, when I get into my bathroom,

something was floating in my bathtub.

A-ha, I suddenly remembered it was so-called Touji in Japanese

and “the winter solstice” in English.

The floating something was Yuzuオレンジ, a fruit like a very small orange

with nice aroma, wrapped with gauze, sending out sweet scents.

Thanks to my mother-in-raw, my family cherishes very traditional

ritual such as “TSUKI-MI”お月様 moon-viewing, “SETSUBUN”節分

(the day before the beginning of spring) throwing beans, etc,

even when we hadn’t had a child yet in my family.

Having a nice bath time I wondered how many of Japanese still

follow this kind of old fashioned costoms.
