シンガポールを出航して10日目、2024年4月5日、2日間のシーデイを経て、ヨーキーズノブという街の遥か沖合にソルスティスは到着しました。
ここは、世界遺産グレートバリアリーフのゲートウェイ、ケアンズの街の一つです。
人口僅か2700人の小さな街ですが、自然がとても豊かなところです。
ご参考までに、グレートバリアリーフ、ケアンズ、ヨーキーズノブの位置関係を Map01と02に示します。

(No.6 - 5 minutes by big boat : Yorkeys Knob)
On the day-10 after leaving Singapore, we arrived far offshore from Yorkeys Knob, a town in Cairns that is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, a World Heritage Site.
This is a small town with a population of only 2,700, but it is rich in nature.
For your reference, Maps 01 and 02 show the relative positions of the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, and Yorkeys Knob.

しばらくすると、大きな観光船らしきビッグボートが数隻、ソルスティスの周囲に集まりはじめました。さらに、ソルスティスに装備されている100人乗りのテンダーボートも次々と降ろされています。（Pic.01参照ください。）

ビッグボートに乗船開始
今日はビッグボートが私たちが乗船するのを待っているようです。
いつものようなテンダーチケットの配布はありませんでした。
ビッグボートに乗船して分かった事ですが、ソルスティスの周囲には、300人乗り2隻と400人乗り1隻が待機しており、大人数が一挙に乗船できるボートだったのです。

Today, the Big Boat seems to be waiting for us to board.
There were no tender tickets handed out as usual.
As we boarded the big boat, we found out that there were two 300-passenger boats and one 400-passenger boat waiting around the Solstice, so a large number of people could board all at once.

待ち時間40分も所要時間たったの5分
残念な事にこのビッグボート、大人数が乗船できるため、ある程度席が埋まらなければ出発しませんでした。
そのため、私たちが乗船して40分も船内で待たなければなりませんでした。
ビッグボートも良し悪しで、効率はあまりよろしくありませんでした。
しかしながら、このビッグボートはスピードがとてつもなく速く、
出発するとたった5分で上陸地点のヨットハーバーへ到着してしまいました。
それもその筈、このビッグボートは、時速50km/h、約27ノットのスピードが出る、
グレートバリアリーフ直行用のスピードボートだったのです。
因みに、ソルステイスへの帰りは、標準装備のテンダーボ－トに乗船しましたが、
到着までに20分もかかってしまいました。
We waited 40 minutes, but it only took 5 minutes.
However, because the boat could accommodate a large number of people, it did not depart until a certain number of seats were filled.
As a result, we had to wait 40 minutes on board.
The big boat was not very efficient, and it had its pros and cons.
However, this big boat was incredibly fast, and arrived at the yacht harbor where we landed in just 5 minutes after departure.
That's because this big boat was a speedboat that could reach a speed of 50km/h, or about 27 knots,
for direct travel to the Great Barrier Reef.
By the way, on the way back to Solstice, we boarded the standard tender boat,
but it took 20 minutes to arrive.

楽しいツアーを終え、帰り便に乗り込むため次々と桟橋に下りて来ています。
