Our family go for our New Year's visit to Dazaifu-Tenmangu shrine every January.
This year we went to pray to the shrine for my family's safety and my children' academic achievements.
Dadaifu-Tenmangu shrine is dedicated to the memory of Michizane Sugawara, also known as "the god of learning".(He was a politician in living aristocracy in the Heian period.)
Every year a lot of students visit Dazaifu-Tenmangu and pray for passing their examinations.
By the way, the educational cost in Japan is calcurated as much as 10 million yen per person from the child's birth.
Their parents might have prayed to God that "I hope it doesn't take much educational expenses for my children!".
新年あけましておめでとうございます！
毎年１月、我が家は太宰府天満宮に初詣でに行きます。
今年も家内安全と学業成就を願ってお参りをしてきました。
太宰府天満宮は、ご存じのとおり学問の神様として知られる菅原道真公を祀った神社です。
道真公は平安時代の貴族であり、政治家でもありました。
毎年多くの受験生が、合格祈願にお参りに来ます。
ところで、日本では子どもが生まれてからかかる教育費は一人当たり１，０００万円と言われています。
（選択する学校、コースによって異なる）
親たちはきっと祈っているでしょうね。
「どうか教育費が少なくてすみますように！」と。
