Forest around Yokomine temple (the 60th temple in Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage) is well managed. Ishizuchi forest organization continuously work cutting branches and removing weak trees as their forest management.
I went hiking to Yokomine temple and Hoshi-ga-mori at the weekend. It was 1.5 hours walk from a bottom of the trail. A gorgeous wooden building gate ‘Niou-mon’ was shown as the gate of temple, a little hike after passed a guidepost (400m left to Yokomine Temple) where the well managed forest area starts.
I went up another 10 minutes to Hoshi-ga-mori after prayed at Yokomine-temple.
It was a magnificent view of Ishizuchi mountain ridge from beyond a shrine gateway.
