先週もまたもや雨で畑仕事は出来ませんでした。
ライアンとチャドは、日曜夜に雨が降る前にとうもろこしに2回目の薬剤散布を行う事が出来ました。
農家が種まきを終えて薬剤と液肥を撒くにはあと数週間の乾燥した日が必要です。 今週も４日間も雨が降る予報なので、畑仕事は出来ないでしょう。
穀物価格は金曜日の上げに救われて少し上がりました。
私達は先週初めに収穫時期の大豆を１２ドルで売ることが出来ました。
加えて旧穀、新穀の大豆とうもろこしを今の相場より上の値段で指値しています。
金曜日はブルドーザーで仕事をしました。
依頼主は週末にフェンスを完成させて牛を移動させたかったので、地面は濡れすぎていましたが、仕事をやり終えました。
こうした事は別に特別なことではありません。
先週行ったMRI検査は無事終わり、明日は専門医と会って選択肢を聞きます。
たぶん股関節の交換手術か、足を引きずり痛みを我慢するかのどちらかです。
今週の写真は、バラスシード（種子会社）の為に育てている３００エーカー程の大豆、１６５エーカーのとうもろこし、１３０エーカーのとうもろこし畑を見回したものです。
これらの畑には排水用パイプが埋設されていて、今年はそれが役立っています。
川はまだ洪水水位を１．５メートル上回っていて、排水設備の無い畑ではしみ出した水で飽和して苗が枯れたところもあります。
今週は種まきを終えたいところですが、出来なければ他の仕事をして様子を見ます。

チェットさん、もしかすると手術になりそうですが、手術費用も1000万円では済まないでしょう。
日本は高額医療費の上限制度（国費による差額補助）がありますが、凄い事です。
種子用の大豆ですね。 種子会社が売る種は、種子会社から依頼された農家が渡された種を使って作ります。
こちらはとうもろこし。
とうもろこし種子はF1、掛け合わせで作るので一列毎に別の種子が植えられ、メスとなるとうもろこしの雄花は自家受粉しないように切り取られます。
Yet another wet week for us with 0 field work again. Ryan and Blake are
spraying some second pass herbicide on some larger corn this morning before
another rain this evening.
Producers need a couple of dry weeks to finish planting and get spraying and side dress nitrogen started but forecast show a chance of rain at least 4 days next week and I would be surprised if we make much progress again next week either.
Grain markets worked up a little this week after a rally Friday that saved the week. We were able to sell some $12 fall beans early last week and have offers in above the market on both corn and beans for old corn and new crop corn and beans.
I did a small dozing job Friday, it was too wet but the guy needed to build
fence this weekend so he could move his cows, I got it done but it was not
real special!
My MRI went well last week and I have an appointment with a specialist
tomorrow to learn my options, which I believe will be hip replacement or
limp around and live with the pain!
Pictures this week are of a field of seed beans for Burrus seed company, we
have just over 300 acres for them this year, looking across the same 165
acre field, corn, spacing and looking across a 130 acre corn field.
Both these fields have been tiled and so far it has paid off this year, the river
is still 5 feet above flood stage and seep water is keeping untiled fields
saturated which is reducing the stand in some areas.
Hopefully next week we can finish up planting but if not we have several
projects to occupy our time so we will see what happens.
