ハワイ47日目 My 47th day in Hawaii

Aloha I’m Natsumi.

It's my 47th day today in Hawaii .

今日で47日目です。

It feels like the time is passing quickly recently.

最近時間が過ぎるのが早く感じます。

Another week is about to end.

もう1週間が終わろうとしています。

I do not have a regular day off, so the day of the week is irrelevant,

私に定期的な休みの日は無いので曜日は関係ないのですが、

I feel like TGIF (Thank God It's Friday) .

金曜日になると何だか明日は休みだ！という気分になります。

It's just a feeling, though.  LOL

気分になるだけなんですけどね（笑）

I wonder if each day is so fullfilling.

それほど1日1日が充実しているのでしょうか。

Leo always comes to me when I work in the garden.

庭仕事をしているといつもレオが来てくれます。

Leonardo is a cat of this house.

レオナルドはこの家の飼い猫です。

Leo heals me.

レオは私の癒しです。

I want to definitely have a pet when I do homestay.

自分がホームステイをする時は絶対に動物を飼おうと思っています。

I love animals.

私は動物が大好きです。

It was a dream for me to have a pet from a young age.

幼い頃から動物を飼うのが夢でした。

I have many dreams.

私にはたくさんの夢があります。

I will try my best to make it all happen.

全て実現させる事を目指して頑張ります。

ハワイ45日目 My 45th day in Hawaii

Aloha I’m Natsumi.

I went hiking to the pink pill box today!

今日はピンクピルボックスに登りました！

It was my first time.

初めてのピンクピルボックスです☺️

Although it was hard for me

I managed to hike up there.

だいぶキツい傾斜でしたが、何とか登れました。

I could see Hawaii and it was a beautiful scenery.

ハワイを一望出来て、とっても綺麗な景色でした。

I remembered Wakayama when I hiked to the pink pill box. 
Wakayama Prefecture also has a place called Nanakosimine.

ピンクピルボックスを登って思い出しましたが、

和歌山県にも七越峯というところがあります。

It is more moderate hiking than the pink pill box, but the cherry blossoms
bloom all over in the spring season.

ピンクピルボックスよりは緩やかですが、春の季節になると桜が一面に咲きます。

ハワイ46日目 My 46th day in Hawaii

Aloha I am Natsumi.

Today 's story is not a very good story, but I will write it because it is important to me.  LOL

今日のお話はあまりいい話では無いのですが、私にとっては大事なので書きます。（笑）

I started my menstruation this morning.

今日の朝、生理が来ました。

Usually my lower back and stomach hurt and I feel dull,

いつもなら腰とお腹が痛くてだるいくらいなのですが、

but today I had the pain I have never experienced before.

今日は今までにない激痛がお腹に走り、
 

I can neither speak nor stand, and

I did not eat anything in the morning but I vomited.

喋る事も立つことも出来なくて、

朝何も食べてないのに嘔吐してしまって

It took time for the medicine to work, so I was moaning and rolling over.

薬も効くまで時間がかかるし、呻きを上げながらもう転げ回って、

I thought that I would die this way. LOL

もうこのまま死ぬのかと思いました（笑）

I slept for a while and I got better.

しばらく暖かくして寝ていたら良くなりましたが、

I feel frightened when I think that this pain may come again next month.

この痛みがまた来月も来るかもしれないと思うとゾッとします。

And I thought about the most scary situation when I am doing a homestay.

そして何より私が怖いと思ったのは、自分がホームステイを受け入れている時です。

I cannot get sick when I have guests.

ゲストをほっておいて寝込む訳にはいきません。

Chiemi, Frankie and I live together now.

今はちえみさんとフランキーさんがいます。

Even if I take a rest the business is usual without me.

私が少し休んでいても仕事はまわります。

But if I was alone ....

しかし、私一人だったら…。

 I felt managing my physical condition in these type of jobs was very important.

この仕事において体調管理が

とても大切な事なのだと実感しました

I have never had serious sickness and even colds so much.

今まで大きな病気や風邪もあまりひいたことが無かったので

So I did not care about managing my physical condition.

体調管理は気にしていませんでした

I’m not afraid of sickness.

病気に対して恐れを抱くのではなく

But I thought that I should know what kind of body condition I have. 

自分の体がどういう体質なのかという事を理解しなければならないと思いました。

From now on I would like to pay a little more attention to my physical condition while
I go through my daily routine.

これからは自分の体調に目を向けて日課に励みたいと思います。

ハワイ44日目 My 44th day in Hawaii

Aloha I’m Natsumi.

I made business cards today!

今日は名刺を作りました！

I think I did a really good job.

我ながら素敵な仕上がりになっていると思います。

I made business cards for the first time in my life.

人生で初めて名刺を作りました

I will do my best as I dream of the days I hand them to people.

これを渡す日を夢見て頑張ります。

After that, we went to the ocean to see the sunset.

今日はサンセットを見に海に行きました

Our guest and I swam.

そしてゲストと2人で泳ぎました。

The oceans has a healing power.

海はとても癒されます。

Also in Wakayama prefecture Shirahama, Kushimoto, Katsuura etc. are places where you can see the ocean.

私の和歌山県も白浜や串本、勝浦などは海が見られる場所です。

It takes about 1 hour by car from my house, but you can see the sunsets and swim.

私の家から車で1時間くらいかかりますが、サンセットが見られたり、泳ぐことができます。

Why don't you come and see the sunset in Wakayama?

I’m making business cards now.

ハワイ42日目 My 42nd day in Hawaii

Aloha I’m Natsumi.

Today the gardening hour has increased by one hour.

今日から庭仕事が1時間増えました。

Chiemi says I need physical strength.

ちえみさんはあなたに足りないのは体力だと言います。

I think so, too.

その通りだと思います。

But 40 days have passed and I have more things I can do. 

しかしここに来てもう40日が経ち、出来ることはたくさん増えました。

Almost all the rooms cleaning, cooking

assistant, laundry, making coffee every morning and gardening, etc.

家のほとんどの掃除、料理のアシスタント、洗濯、朝のコーヒー作り、庭仕事、など。

I was exhausted just by doing my daily routine.

最初の頃の私は日課をこなすだけで疲れきっていました。

I’m getting used to the environment and I have a little bit of room to
accomodate other things.

今やっと余裕が出来つつあります。

However, in order to balance homestay and tea plantation business
I need more physical strength.

しかし、ホームステイと茶畑を両立させる為にはもっと体力が必要です。

I must wake up early in the morning as the sun rises and
I must weed the tea field before it gets hot.

朝早く起き、日差しが照り、暑くならないうちに、茶畑の草むしりをしなければなりません。

In Homestay I have to be hospitable to entertain guests.

ホームステイではゲストを楽しませるためのおもてなしをしなければなりません。

The guest rooms must be kept clean and beautiful always

ゲストハウスは常に綺麗を保たなければなりません。

I can never have enough bodies (I only have one). 

身体がいくつあっても足りません（笑）

But I think it is important to do your best what needs to be done.

しかしそれを実現する為には今やる事を一生懸命やる事が大切だと思っています。

I seen rainbow when I was gardening!

庭仕事をしている時、虹を見ました！

It was beautiful.

とっても綺麗でした。
 

The nature always heals me.
 

自然の景色が私をいつも癒してくれます。

ハワイ41日目 My 41st day in Hawaii

Aloha I’m Natsumi.

I watched ‘Jurassic World 2’ at the movie theater today.

今日はジュラシックワールド2を映画館で観ました。

After all ‘Jurassic Park and World’ movies are one of the biggest box office hits and the stories are interesting.

やっぱりジュラシックワールドは王道で面白いですね。

We watch movies everyday here.

ここでは毎日映画尽くしです。

Frankie likes movies very much.  He liked movies so much that he built a theater room in his home.

フランキーさんが映画がとても好きでシアタールームを自分で作ってしまうくらい映画好き。

Frankie is watching movies every night at night.

フランキーさんは毎日夜映画を観ています。

Frankie's usual jokes come from movies.

フランキーさんのいつものジョークは映画からきているそうです。

After that we had dim sum in Chinatown.

その後は中華街で飲茶を食べました。

It was very delicious.

とっても美味しかったです。

Frankie says that you should choose Chinese restaurants where the Chinese eat.

フランキーさんが中国人がくる中華のレストランを選んだ方がいいと言います。

Certainly, I don't think it's a good Chinese food if the Chinese people do not want to eat.

確かに、地元の人が食べない中華は中華では無いのだと思いました。

I felt like I went to China while I was in Hawaii;)

ハワイにいるのに中国に行った気分でした☺️

In my homestay I want to create an environment where
you can feel and experience Hawaii while you are in Japan.

私のホームステイでは日本にいるのにハワイ気分な体験も出来るようにしたいと思います。

ハワイ40日目 My 40th day in Hawaii

Aloha I'm Natsumi.

I watched my favorite movie today.

今日は私が好きな映画を見ました.

The title of the movie is‘The greatest showman’.

その映画のタイトルは「The greatest showman」です。

This movie is a musical made by the same staff who made "La La Land".

この映画はララランドを手がけたスタッフが作ったミュージカル映画です。

If you haven't watch the movie, please stop reading this and watch it now.　LOL

見てない方はこれを読むのを辞めて今すぐ見てください。（笑）

Main characters Mr.  P.T Burnum who was poor, Charity who was a lady gets married after many years of knowing each other.  But the company he was working for went bankrupt and he lost his job.

貧乏だったP.T Barnumとお嬢様だったCharityが長年の月日を経て結婚するも会社が破綻し解雇。

So Burnum himself started his own business ; a circus.

そこでバーナムは自らサーカスをやる事に。

There, people like a midget or a beared woman otherwise socially outcast were selected to be in the circus.

そこでは背がとても低い男や髭の生えた女性など、世間では冷たい目を浴びせられる人々を集めてサーカスを開いたのです。

The people who had been discriminated before became stars of the circus.

これまで差別を受けていた人はサーカスの上ではスターとなりました。

In addition to the life of PT Burnum and the stories of others, discrimination between higher and lower classes and discrimination of appearance and body features are portraid.

これはPT Barnumの一生やほかの人たちのストーリーの他に、

上級と下級の差別, 見た目や特徴の差別が描かれています。

However this is a movie that contains a message to accept who you are and be true to yourself, live the life the way you like it.

それでもこれが自分なのだと、自分らしく生きようというメッセージが込められている映画です。

When I saw this movie, it was just before the exam to become certified as a dietitian.

この映画を見た時、私は管理栄養士の試験直前でした。

It was never enough no matter how hard you studied.

勉強してもしても足りない。

Every day I had to memorize the contents of the reference books which were like dictionaries .

分厚い辞書のような参考書を毎日毎日暗記する日々。

I was getting crazy. LOL

私は頭がおかしくなっていました（笑）

It was this very movie that my friend invited me to watch when I was stuck.

行き詰まっていた私を友達が映画に誘ってくれたのがこの映画でした。

After seeing this movie, I was convinced that I had to go to Hawaii.

この映画を見た後、ハワイに行かなければならないと確信しました。

I thought that this was not what I wanted to do.

私がやりたい事はこれじゃないと思いました。

I want to live my life as I want.

もっと自分らしく生きよう。

I still want to live with dreams I had when I was a child. 

もっと自分が子供の頃に描いた様な夢を今も見て生きよう。

Can you do homestay in a remote place?  At the same time I manage the tea plantation?

辺鄙な場所でホームステイなんて出来るのか？同時に茶畑の運営？

Some people might think it is reckless.

無謀だと思う人もいるでしょう。

But I want to do it.

でも私はやりたいんです。

Because I decided to live my life the way I am.

何故なら自分らしく生きようと決めたからです。

ハワイ39日目 My 39th day in Hawaii

Aloha I'm Natsumi.

It is already 39th day.

もう39日目です。

 I'm planning to stay for 84 days so I'm almost half of my stay in Hawaii. 

84日間滞在予定なので、もう半分に近づいています。

Another half? !　 I feel like it's only about one third. LOL

もう半分？！気分は三分の一くらいです（笑）

I over asleep in the morning on the days after I am exausted but Chiemi tells me it's OK as long as I finish my daily routine
on my own time.

疲れた次の日は相変わらず寝過ごしたりしますが、起きて残りの時間できちんと日課をやればいいよと言ってくれます。

I was told to think about what needs to be done When I am up.

自分が動ける時にどう動けばいいか考えて動きなさいと言われました。

Chiemi says that there is no time limit for this job. 

この仕事に時間の制限はないとちえみさんは言います。

Since the business hours are not set, we must be flexible in responding to customer's needs. 

営業時間は決められていないため、お客様さまのニーズに合わせて臨機応変に対応しなければなりません。

For example, how do I respond if I could not meet a customer's needs.

たとえば私がお客様に失礼をしたとして、残りの時間でどう対応するか。

Of course I would apologize but we need to prepare an alternative plan, and show more hospitality afterwards.

謝ることはもちろん、それに代わるプランを用意したり、残りの時間でそれ以上のおもてなしをしなければなりません。

 However, Chiemi and Frankie show understanding that I need a lot of sleep and I sometimes oversleep.

しかし私がたくさんの睡眠が必要なことも寝過ごしてしまうこともちえみさんとフランキーさんは理解を示してくれます。

 Being late will not be tolerated in Japan.

日本では遅刻は許されません。

 I was chased by time until I left Japan.

私もついこの間までは時間に追われる日々でした。

 I set the alarm a number of times, I counted back from the meeting time to check the time of the train, and watched
the clock many times a day. 

アラームを何度もセットして、集合時間から逆算して電車の時間を調べたり、時計を一日に何度も見ました。

I am not good at time management because I am not good at getting up early in the morning.

私は朝起きるのが苦手なため時間管理が得意ではないです。

People in Japan may think that I am not managing my time right or I waste others' time.  They might also think
that I am insensitive and I do not care about anything.

それは自己管理がなっていないとか、他人の時間を無駄にして何とも思わない無神経な人とか思う人もいるでしょう。

However, in Hawaii there is Hawaiian time, and people are late all the time. 

しかしハワイではハワイアンタイムが存在し、遅刻することが日常なのです。

 I think that it is wonderful for me. LOL

私にとってはなんて素晴らしいことだろうと思います（笑）

 I 'm not good at life divided and chased by time. 

時間に区切られ時間に追われる生活は私は苦手です。

When I interned as a managed nutritionist for 3 weeks at a hospital in order to be certified,  you would not get credits
when you are late only once.  You will be refused to intern if you make a mistake to the hospital.
Anyway it was very strict for time and work.

 I could not sleep much because I had to write a report till late at night, so I got sick with unexplainable fever on the last week of my internship. LOL

管理栄養士の資格を取るために病院で3週間実習したとき、遅刻を一度でもすると単位がもらえないことや、

病院側に失礼があると実習拒否されるなど、とにかく時間にも仕事にも厳しかったです。
さらに遅い時間までレポートを書くために睡眠時間を削らざる得ず、最後の1週間目で原因不明の熱でダウンしました。（笑）

Since I was a leader of the group, I was very nervous.

I had to be alert all the time, I had no time to rest or relax, so I was irritated all the time. 

I do not want to feel that way ever again. LOL

さらに班のリーダーだったため、神経を削りました。あの時の私は常に気を張っていなければならなかったし、

余裕も休まる暇もなく、ずっとイライラしていました。私はもう二度とあんな思いはしたくないです（笑）

At Natsumi Chatsumi our goal is to lead a slow life which is not bound by time. 

Natsumi Chatsumiでは時間に縛られないスローライフを実現させたいと思っています。

You can sleep and get up when you want.  You can live life with nature.  That is what I want you to experience.

寝たいときに寝て、起きたいときに起き、自然とともに生きる生活をし、それをみなさんにも体験して頂きたいと思っています。

ハワイ38日目 My 38th day in Hawaii

Aloha I'm Natsumi.

I think I will talk about volunteering today.

今日はボランティアのことについて話してみようと思います。

Chiemi is doing a lot of volunteering and charity events.

ちえみさんはボランティアやチャリティーイベントをしています。

Chiemi 's friends are also volunteering.

ちえみさんのお友達もボランティアをしている人たちが多いです。

I think that is a very wonderful thing.

とても素晴らしいことだと思います。

Charity massage events organized by Chiemi raise the money to support people in Tohoku and also support
people who want to volunteer in Tohoku. 

ちえみさんが主催しているマッサージチャリティーイベントはマッサージで頂いたお金をボランティアをしている人
の支援のためにも使われます。

I thought that the idea was amazing.

私はその着眼点がすごいと思いました。

I have never heard of helping people who want to volunteer and who are volunteering.

ボランティアをしたい人、ボランティアをしている人の支援をするなんて聞いたことがありませんでした。

You need energy in order to volunteer.　 People who need help are always present and you have to keep supporting.

ボランティアをするためにはエネルギーが必要です。助けを必要とする人々は常に存在し、サポートし続けなければなりません。

 I think that the consideration for volunteering is the happiness, the connection, the bond and the smiles of the people. 

ボランティアの対価はその人々の幸せや、人との繋がり、絆、笑顔だと思います。

I also like to do something for people.  Your hardship and effort will be rewarded with the smiles of people.

私も人の為に何かをするということは好きです。その人の笑顔で自分の苦労や努力が報われます。

But people who volunteer also have lives and they have their own lives. 

しかしボランティアをする人にも生活があり、人生があります。

The energy to volunteer may be exhausted.

ボランティアをするエネルギーが枯渇することもあるでしょう。

Some people do everything to help other people and not think about themselves.

自分のことをそっちのけで人々に尽くしている人たちもいます。

Chiemi says who will support the volunteers?

ボランティアをしている人たちを誰が支援するのだろう？とちえみさんは言います。

I think that is true.

本当にその通りだと思います。

Chiemi also volunteers, but she also supports people who do such volunteers. 

ちえみさんはボランティアもしますがそういったボランティアをする人を支援することもしています。

So who is it that supports Chiemi? 

では、ちえみさんを支援する人は誰でしょうか？

That's me. 

それは私です。

Since I came to Hawaii I feel the close connection of people. 

ハワイに来てから人々の繋がりを密 に感じます。

We appreciate each other, help each other, and laugh together.

感謝し合い、助け合い、共に笑い。

I feel a very nice vibration.

とても素敵な波動を感じます

I also would like to build programs to volunteer at Natsumi Chatsumi. 

Natsumi Chatsumiでもボランティアや人々を支援するプログラムを組みたいと思っています。

 Apart from the days chased by time and difficult social relationships, you can forgot about work and school.
We can help, appreciate and laugh with each other.

時間に追われる日々から離れ、難しい人間関係も解き、仕事も学校も忘れ、共に助け合い、感謝し合い、笑い合い。

 I want to make a program that lives and share with nature.

自然と共に生きるようなプログラムにしたいと思っています。
