SAN CLEMENTE, CA/USA (Monday, September 14, 2015) - Fading surf and unfavorable wind at Lower Trestles has prompted event organizers to call a lay day at the Hurley Pro and Swatch Women's Pro, stops No. 8 and 7 respectively on the Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT).

"This morning there is still some swell left over but that South wind is already starting to come in, which isn't great for here," said WSL Commissioner, Kieren Perrow. "We won't be running any heats today. We're expecting this swell to drop over the next few days but we are watching a good looking swell for the end of the week on Thursday and into Friday".

When competition resumes, up first will be either Joel Parkinson (AUS) against Filipe Toledo (BRA) in the Men's Quarterfinals or Bianca Buitendag (ZAF) taking on Lakey Peterson (USA) in the Women's Semifinals.

Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow at 7 a.m. local time to assess conditions and make a call for competition.

Surfline, official forecaster for the World Surf League, are calling for:

Southerly swell mix will trend down further on Monday as onshore southerly wind picks up and rain is a possibility in the afternoon. Tuesday will see a further fade in surf, with the rain chance continuing. A fun, new SW swell will build in for the second half of the week.
