SAN CLEMENTE, CA/USA (Monday, September 15, 2014): The Hurley Pro at Trestles and the Swatch Women’s Pro Trestles, stops no. 8 and 7 respectively on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour, have been placed on STANDBY today with 2-to-4 foot inconsistent waves. A fourth consecutive lay day has been called and event organizers will reconvene at local time (PDT/GMT -7) on Tuesday, September 16 to assess conditions and make the next call.
"We've been watching for a while and it's really inconsistent," said ASP Commissioner Kieren Perrow. "The swell is there and we're seeing it fill in but we've decided that we'll go on standby for the day and come back tomorrow. We won't run any heats today because it isn't consistent enough, but we're all set for a really exciting finish. I think the next three days will see some great surf and we aim to finish the event on Thursday".
Surfline, official surf forecasters for the Hurley Pro and Swatch Women’s Pro Trestles, have called for:
A new, very long period SW swell will slowly start to build through the day on Monday the 15th, and is strongest Tue/Wed, holds to slowly eases on Thursday and backs down through the final two days of the event. The surf will be lully, but offer good size waves when the sets do show. We continue to closely watch Hurricane Odile but, at this point, it does not look like much of a swell maker for SoCal/Trestles as it will be tracking directly along the coast of Baja and out of the SoCal/Trestles swell window.
