While IGZO has gotten a lot of attention because of persistent rumors that Apple was going to use that technology in the iPad 3 and iPad 4, LTPS is also emerging as a candidate.
"IGZO may get used in the iPad Mini, but that doesn't stop them from using LTPS. It can provide even better resolution than IGZO" in thin designs, Jakhanwal said.
For example, LTPS is being used in the iPhone 5, according to Jakhanwal.
"This technology is primarily being used for smartphones. There have been some concerns about scaling or manufacturability for larger size [displays]," she said.
But at a recent display conference in Japan, Jakhanwal said, she saw a few companies showing LTPS on 7-inch class displays, boding well for LTPS in large designs.
The upshot? I am :) i am sorry that bothers you and makes you feel you need to somehow convince us that you own a better product.... cause oh you know what? why dont you make a phone that Actually fits in my pocket without me feeling i am going to brake it once i sit down! one that its really light so when i make a phone call i can make it last forever without getting tired of holding it, one that doesnt look stupid cause its like a brick on the side of my head,! one that i dont have to install a freakin antivirus in, one that has an appstore i can trust, one where i know my idenitity is not bieng stolen from google so google can push enormous amounts of publicity into my phone and my life.
oh and better make it with highly recyclable materials, not cheap annoying plastic, better lots go cometely crazy! make a great camera in the device and put zafire lenses! so itll probably never get scratch and all of my photos will be great!
now have it sinc everything with my library in itunes cause you know i really like how i just drag stufff there and i dont have to worry about where the songs go or stuff like that like geek management of the computer!
Now give me lots of apps so i can choose from hundreds of pdfs viwers, camera scanner apps, chemistry apps that explain the structure of molecules, a word procesor app thats not flooded with usseles features. maybe some image editing tools... you know something like photoshop but something i dont have to take a freaking 5 months tutorial to learn how to use...
oh wait... i can go on and on and on and on... and the ipad and iphone do all that and MORE... AND THE BEST I DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER BEING STOLEN BY SOME SPYWARE :)
