Constant exposure to 日本語 is the best way to learn the language (or at least, supplement/cement/retain the learning). And by constant, I mean EVERYDAY. Especially if you're not a native speaker. I can't stress this enough. Been getting kind of lazy for the past few weeks and when I got back to the textbooks, it seems like I've forgotten almost everything except for the slang and grammar patterns that are usually said in variety shows. D and Gの嵐、嵐の宿題くん、まごまご嵐、etc. saved my ass. My keigo suffered but at least I remembered some Japanese.

Our class will have midterms in three days. I'm trying to remember the particle bits the way I remember random trivia. Also figuring out and memorizing which verb conjugation goes which pattern.
