Report of Club Meeting #42
On December 19th, we had the 42th English meeting of Yokohama Frontier Toastmasters Club (YFTMC) at
As TMOE (Toastmaster of the Evening; chair), I planned for the meeting with more informality. One of examples was to use the first name or nick name during the meeting, instead of the last name, such as ‘TM(Toastmaster) xxxx ‘as usual.
We had 2 kinds of educational session in the meeting.
In the prepared speech session, we had FIVE prepared speakers. The first speaker, TM K. K, presented his ice breaker speech in English. He tried to have a speech about his likes and dislikes. The second speaker, TM Y. H., introduced the 3 factors learned through the activity with the children in his volunteer work. The third speaker, TM N. T., taught us the power of language and also emphasized the importance of language learning by showing its benefits. The fourth speaker, TM A. K., looked back his experience in Toastmasters and explained the factor which shifted his feeling to be positive. The fifth speaker, TM A. F., had a speech about his fasting experience and it seemed to get the attention of the audience. As a feedback session, the FIVE evaluators: TM R.O., TM M. Y., TM N. W., TM K.O. and TM M. K. gave their kind evaluations to the speakers respectively. They evaluated to motivate.
The Best Speaker and the Best Evaluator went to TM A. F. and TM M. Y., respectively.
After the meeting, we had the 30-minute social hour at the venue and this provided us with a good opportunity to talk to each other. Actually we could enjoy chatting over snacks and the time was not enough for us.
Overall today’s meeting including the social hour and an optional dinner was very productive and all attendees seemed to be very enjoyable with a lot of laughter. The meeting was also very successful!
