It had* been a long day.
My boss had asked me what kind of sake I wanted, and so I told him.
He gave me a look.
It had been a long time since we had it.
Did I say something wrong?
You see, a long time ago, I had had the best sake I had ever had, and I wanted to have it again.
Should I have asked for a different sake? Perhaps a less expensive one?
Boss? Are you okay?
But then he smiled.
Thank you, boss!
It really was a nice treat. I hadn't had* Juu-yon-dai in a long time.
Until next time...
I used the words "have" and "had" a lot--even a double "had" phrase. I've heard that "had" is a word that is quite difficult. Good luck!
