Unfortunately, I cannot contact you with good news today: After having
reviewed your application and conducted the interview, we regret to have to
inform you that we have decided to turn down your application due to
insufficient level of English comprehension.
There were some initial question marks regarding the relation between your
training and work experience that were resolved; however, we found your
English skills to be insufficient for an 18-month training in the United States.

Even though we think that you have the professional qualification for your
training field and that you would have been well-integrated into corporate
culture at your host company, the J1 visa regulations require participants
to have basic conversational English skills.

We would like to ensure that training programs are a successful experience
for both the host company and our participants, and language barriers do
represent a problem with regard to staying and working in the United States
for such an extended time period and may easily lead to frustration.
Also, we felt that you might have troubles to pass an English interview at
the US embassy.
Please understand that we do not doubt your professional qualifications
otherwise, but that we as a sponsor need to ensure applications comply with
J1 visa regulations as set forth by the US Department of State. We will be
happy to accept your application at a later point in time, when you have
acquired better English skills.
We will cancel your visa application but nevertheless wish you all the best
for your future career!
If you have any questions regarding your application or J1 visa regulations
still, please do not hesitate to contact me.

参考になれば幸いです。:)

Since the start of this BLOG, the following questions are received from local companies almost every day.

Will rephrase the questions as follows:

Q-1) WHAT is a J1 visa program and WHY hire J1 visa program interns?

A-1)

Mainly for the following reasons:

1) Motivation:
Must travel across almost half the world to gain new experience.

2) Hardwork:
International travel is not cheap. All J1 interns work hard to pay their way.

3) Qualification:
All J1 interns are bilingual in English/Japanese

4) Diversity:
Fresh people bring new ideas and qualifications.

5) Neat Fit:
J1 trainees can stay for maximum 18 months thus will neatly fit into your needs.

Q-1) All processing completed in advance. What next?

A-1) Refer to the following HP for additional information:

http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-niv-j.html

You will note, as an employer, sponsoring a candidate is not a requisite.

A candidate is sponsored by organizations authorized by the U.S. Department of State to
sponsor a number of exchange visitors.

Subsequently an employer only needs to submit a training plan detailing the duties and
responsibilities of the candidate.

All other preparations are to be undertaken by each candidate and if your company or the
future intern requires further assistance, kindly send an e-mail to the address indicated
below.

Again, this ascertains that the J-1 Visa category was established by the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961 to promote foreign policy objectives of mutual
understanding between the people of the United States and other countries not only through
job site training but also through EDUCATIONAL and CULTURAL ACTIVITIES.

If you still have any questions, please send an e-mail to the address indicated below.

BECAUSE......according to a report by a well-known survey company:

43 % of workers call in sick at least once a year despite not being so.

And while calling in sick is common, employers are catching on to the ruse:
23 % said an employee has been fired for missing work without a legitimate reason.

Have you ever had the same experience before?

Here are some funny & actual examples of excuses given by real-life workers for missing work:

1) I'm too drunk to drive to work.
2) I accidentally flushed my keys down the toilet.
3) I had to help deliver a baby on my way to work.
4) I accidentally drove through the automatic garage door before it opened.
5) My boyfriend's snake escaped and I'm afraid to leave the bedroom until he gets home.
6) I'm too fat to get into my work pants.
7) God didn't wake me.
8) I cut my fingernails too short. They're bleeding and I have to go to the doctor.
9) The ghosts in my house kept me up all night.
10) I forgot I was getting married today.
11) My cow bit me.
12) My son accidentally fell asleep next to the wet cement in our backyard.
His foot fell into the cement and we could not get it out.
13) I was watching a guy fixing a septic pump, fell into the hole and hurt myself.
14) I was walking my dog and slipped on a toad in my driveway and hurt my back.
15) My house lock jammed and I'm locked in.

So....why not to try an internship program? However, if you still have any questions,
