Performers at Shamballah Gathering August

DANCERS

*KAORU*
Born in Japan. She has been a member of Temple of Jehan since 2008 and performed in "Cirque Arabesque" in June of 2010. She loves to share the beauty and magic of belly dancing.

*MEGUMI*

Hailing from Japan, MEGUMI OYAMA has a background in Jazz and Tap, fall in love and began studying Middle Eastern dance in NY. Belly dance has become her path of expression and the way she celebrates her life. Megumi has been a member of Public Urban Ritual Experiment, "PURE", a community of dancers and musicians who have come together to share their love of dance and music with public for the purpose of healing and peace. www.puredance.org

*SARAH*
A young belly dancer. Influenced by the talent and grace of Jehan Kamal has been studying and performing with her company, Temple of Jehan, since 2009.

*JURI*

Juri Nishio is a performance artist living in Brooklyn, NY. She was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and graduated from Nihon University of Art with a degree in drama. Her dance journey began in 2000 and she came to NY 2003 to investigate contemporary African Dance forms and in 2006 completed the International Student Independent Study program at The Ailey School.　Her work includes choreographed dances with Germain Acgoney, Nora Chipaumire, Camille A Brown, the Urban Bush Women Apprenticeship program, M'WORD! ( N'Bewe Escobar), INSPIRIT, a dance company( Christal N Brown ), and Maimouna Keita School of African Dance ( Marie Basse Wiles ).Using her own language Zen, Wabi Sabi with plenty of Afro spice, she conveys the message from the spirit. She currently teaches Afro Spice Dance at CRS.
