This is a word for those seriously thinking about becoming a voice actor:
A Story about Voice
Did you know that your voice is the ‘one and only’ instrument in the world, even more marvelous than the stratovarius?
A high clear voice, a low strong voice, a cute baby voice, a sexy husky voice; all of these voices that you are born with gives your favorite character sleeping in a flat, 2D comic book the heart and life, energy and emotion, bringing it to life in the 3D world of animation.
I think voice acting is the most wonderful career in the world.
When the voice hits the air and makes it vibrate and sound, that person’s voice then reaches others heart and makes their string of heart vibrate. Everyone turns into an unforgivable character.
Nausica’s voice is a voice just like that. Sumi’s instrument is pure and imperious, but has the strong drive to fight for justice. It is not an exaggeration to say that her voice created “Nausica” to be a classic.
I can say this because she is my friend.
It is the tone color carefully polished by her honest way of living.

私は声優って世界で一番素敵な職業だと思って
いる。自分の声が空気に触れてその振動と響き

「ナウシカの声」はそんな声だよね。
永遠に誰も島本須美さんのナウシカを超える声
優さんなんて出ないと思う。
須美さんの声という名作の楽器は
「凛」として清らかで、ダケド、正義のために
は戦う強い気迫を奏でる。
彼女の声が名作「ナウシカ」を作ったといって
も過言じゃない。
それはともだちだから言える。
彼女の正直な生き方からくる 彼女自身がじっ
くり自分の女優としての人生を磨いてきた楽器
の音色なんだ。
彼女の生の演技、発声、息の使い方。
