ハッピーバレンタインデー！！！！
今年のバレンタインは日本にいないので、みんなの為に新しいカバー曲をyoutubeにUPしました！

2005年に全世界で大ヒットを記録した、ジェームス・ブラント
（James Blunt）の名曲「You're Beautiful（ユア・ビューティフル）」です。

日本では資生堂「TSUBAKI（ツバキ）」のＣＭ曲にもなってましたね。

原曲と全く違うアレンジも入れてみました。


日本ではバレンタイン＝女の子から男の子へ。
でも海外では男の子から女の子にプレゼントするんです。
（もちろん女子からもあるよw）
しかも普通に"You're Beautiful"って女の子に褒めるんだ。
男子はもっと強く堂々としないとね！

バレンタインだし、みんなもこの曲聴いて
周りの友達に「ステキだね」と言ってみるのはどうでしょうか？

この動画は新たなテクニックで作ってみました。
バッキング演奏をコマアニメっぽく。笑
楽しかったけど、以外と大変だったとか。w

今回カバーのパーカッション・・・チャレンジしてみました！！
やっぱ難しかったな・・・汗
次回はせぃちゃんに頼もうかな、な～んてね。笑

I've uploaded a new video on youtube!!


Cover of the popular artist Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know".


I tried a new technique filming this video.
stop-motion animation style.
It was lots of fun to make, but a lot of work too....

I even played the percussions too!
It wasn't easy....
Maybe I'll ask my drummer SEI in Japan to help me out next time!
hahaha

昨日youtubeにupした【弾いてみた】動画、"It Will Rain" (Bruno Mars)のメイキング映像もupしました～♪
動画を観てくれた方はみんな雨、雨って言うけど（オレもだけど）・・・
実は・・・笑


昨夜Facebookとツイッターでつぶやいたんだけど・・・
カルチャーの違いって面白いな。
Upした動画では雨の中でバイオリンを演奏しました。
外国の方は「イイネ！」とか「面白い！」っていうリアクションだけど、
日本の方は「楽器大丈夫？」とか心配のコメントが多かったです。
オレは一つの作品、面白い動画として作りました。
この楽器は８年以上使ってない安いエレキバイオリンなんです。
もう使わないバイオリンで、
実家のリビングに飾ってる楽器だから大丈夫ですよ～w　
心配ありがとう。w

実はこの楽器、オレの一番最初のエレキバイオリンなんだ。
「楽器がかわいそう」っていう声もありましたが、オレはそう思いません。
もう８年以上家に飾ってるリタイアした楽器、しかもオレの一番最初のエレキバイオリンと一緒にいい作品が作れてオレも、
きっと楽器も幸せだと思います。
楽器が幸せってオレが勝手に思ってるかもしれないけど、８年以上ステージにあがってなく、フライングVのヴァイパーに場所をとられたから、一生残る動画としてまた沢山の方々に観られるから幸せかもね。

I've uploaded Behind the Scenes video of my violin cover "It Will Rain" (Bruno Mars)～♪
Everyone who saw the video thought it was real rain...but... hahaha


I updated on Facebook and
tweeted about something last night on twitter.
I experienced an interesting cultural difference.
After uploading a cover of Bruno Mars on youtube, my western viewers
thought it was cool to perform in the rain, but my Japanese
viewers were more concerned about my instrument
getting wet in the rain.
I made this video as a form of "art", something different.

This was a very cheap electric violin that I haven't used for over 8 years.
It's been hanging as a display in my living room for all these years,
so it's ok if it gets wet.
But thanks for the worry~ :)

To tell you the truth, this is my very first electric violin.
I even had a viewer from Japan who felt sorry for the poor instrument.
But you know what? I don't think so...
This instrument retired over 8 years ago and now hangs on our living room wall.
I'm sure this violin is very happy that it got to be featured in a video.
You can say that I'm assuming the instrument is happy,
but think about it. It hasn't been on stage spot light for over 8 years
and my flying V "Viper" has replaced it, so for this violin to be
featured in a video to be watched once again by
people around the world, I'm sure it is very happy!!

日本はもう寒くなったのかな？
街中はもうクリスマス気分とイルミネーションがいっぱいかな？
やっぱクリスマスは冬だよね。
久々な暑いクリスマスを過ごしてるKATEIです。w

年末に皆さんはどっか旅行に行きますか？

オレ、ちょっと旅に行ってきます！！★
まぁ、急遽決めたんですけどね。w

１２月２０日からちょっと台湾へ。
そして・・・
１２月３０日からちょっと韓国へ。
ラリアに戻って来るのが１月８日です。

台湾は今年の１月に行って来たけど、韓国は何年ぶりだろう。

ネットがあればツイートやブログもガンガンupします！
オレのブログを通して旅行してる気分になれたら嬉しいです。

旅に出るまでまだ何回かイベント出演があるから頑張ります！

I'm guessing Japan is getting colder now.
The city must be filled with Christmas decorations and lights.
Christmas should be in Winter...
Not Summer, like here in Australia. haha

Are you all traveling during the Xmas break?

I've made a sudden decision to go on a trip this year!!

Taiwan from 20th December.
And
Korea from 30th December.
I'll be back in Australia on 8th January.

I was back in Taiwan early this year, but haven't been
back to Korea in so many years.

I hope there's internet there, so that I can
tweet and upload my blog constantly!
If you're not traveling, I hope you'll feel like you are traveling
through reading my blog.

I've still got a few more performances before I take off.

最近、コカ・コーラがやってるキャンベーンです。
「◯◯さんとコーラを飲もう！」っていうコンセプトで、ボトルやカンに沢山の名前で売ってます。

でも、世界中の名前を全部使うのは無理なので・・・
キャンペーンとしてショッピングセンターで自分の名前をプリントしてくれるんです！！w
てことで世界で１つしかないKATEI・コーラを作りました！笑

Coke is doing this promotional thing where
you can "share a Coke" with someone.

But as you know, they can't have ALL the names in the world...
So they've got this special thing where you can print
your own unique names at local shopping centers!!

So I've printed a "KATEI Coke"!!
The only one in the world! hehe

今日、１１月１８日、KATEIのデビュー２周年です～★
イェ～～～～～～イ！！！！！！

沢山のコメント、メッセージ、ありがとうございます！！！

何かこの２年間、長かったような・・・短かったような。
でも本当に沢山の場所で演奏したり、沢山の方々とコラボしたり、
沢山の方々に出逢えたり・・・
オレにとって本当に豪華な２年間でした。

いつも応援してくれてる皆様のお陰です。

これからももっともっと頑張らないとね！！！
今後のKATEIもヨロシクお願いします！！！！

Today is November 18th, KATEI's debut 2nd year anniversary～★
YEA YEA~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!

Thanks to every one who commented on facebook and twitter,
and sent me messages!!!!


These 2 years felt long...yet felt it went by really quickly.
I've had the opportunity to perform at different places,
collaborated with different artist and got to meet many
many wonderful and beautiful hearted people along the way.
It has been an amazing 2 years.

This is all thanks to everyone who's supported me
all along the way!

This also means I need to work harder from here onwards!!
Hope you are all with me every step of the way!!


For this special occasion, I've decided to upload these
pictures from "QLD TOURISM AWARD 2011"~★

There were more than 800 people there that night!
They even had a camera man on me!!

この前、１５年近く会ってない仲間と再会しました。
彼の名前はAaron Brown（アロン・ブラウン）。
アロンくんと初めて会ったのはオレが９歳の頃。
同じ音楽学校に通ってて、彼もバイオリンを習ってた。
オレより何歳か年上だけど彼もオレと同じく背が小さかった。
当時通ってた音楽学校はロシア系の音楽学校で、
アロンくんもオレも学校内ではTOP５に入ってた。
１２歳の時、初のヨーロッパツアーでソロのステージで立ったのも
アロンくんと一緒だった。
一緒に演奏した曲はヴィヴァルディの
Double Violin Concerto in A minorでした。
それから２～３年間ずっと一緒の音楽学校だったから、
親友でもあり音楽ライバルでもあった。

その後、
オレは違う音楽学校に行く事になってアロンくんと会わなくなった。
でもオレがたまたま受かった私立の男子高校にアロンくんも通ってたので、高校生でまた再会。

高校卒業後、アロンくんはクラシック音楽を勉強しにアメリカへ旅立った。

それから１５年、最近facebookを始めたアロンくんからメルが来た。
「今週ブリスベンに戻るからお茶でもしない？」と。

むかし一緒に音楽学校を通ってた仲間も呼び出して久々な再会をした。

アロンくんは現在ニューヨークに住んでて、
バロック・バイオリニストとして活動してる。
CD交換しました～♪

今思うと、彼みたいなライバルがいたからこそオレも上達したと思う。
彼より上手くならないと！じゃなくて、追っかけっこみたいにバイオリンが楽しかったからだと思う。

ガキの頃は同じ学校でクラシックを習い、今はすっかり大人になりお互い違う音楽の道を歩いてる。
ランチしながら自分たちの冒険話をしたり、懐かしい話をしたり、
本当に楽しかったです。

一人はバロック、一人はロック。

今はまたニューヨークに戻ったけど、
いつかまた一緒に演奏しようねと約束をした。
楽しみだな。

I met an old friend of mine the other day.
We probably haven't seen each other for over 15 years?
He's name is Aaron Brown.

I first met Aaron when I was 9 years old.
We went to the same music school together, and
he also learnt the violin too.
Aaron was a few years older than me, but I remember
he was the same height as me.
The music school we went to was a Russian based music school
and we were the top kids at the school during the time.

I toured Europe as a soloist for the fist time at the age of 12.
It was at that tour that I performed together with Aaron.
We played Vivaldi's Double Violin Concerto in A minor.
I stayed at that music school for another 2~3 years and we were
always good friends but also rivals in music.

After that, I decided to go to a different music school
and lost contact with Aaron.
I got into a private boys school in Brisbane, and found out
that Aaron went there too.

After graduating from high school, Aaron moved to America
to continue studying classical violin.

15 years later, Aaron finds me on facebook.
He said he was back in Brisbane for a short trip
and wanted to catch up for lunch.

We met up with our other friend from the music school too.
It's been so long since we all met up.

Aaron lives in New York now, as a Baroque Violinist.
We exchanged CDs.

I look back now, and I appreciate having a rival like Aaron
when I was a child because it made me more competitive
and made me improve heaps.
But it wasn't like "I need to be better than him!!", it was more like
chasing each other and having lots of fun playing the violin.

As kids, we both learnt the classical violin at the same school.
Now as adults, we're both walking on different roads.
During lunch, we shared our adventurous stories,
and laughed at some old memories.
Had a great time catching up.

One went down Baroque path, one went down Rock path.

He's back in New York now, but we promised that we'll play again together
someday somewhere.
I can't wait.
