My Dear Daughter,



今日は良い一日でした。ジムに行って、勉強して、そして会社に行ってきた。夕飯はみつわの鮭弁当にした　(^∇^)

Today was a pretty good day.  I went to the gym, studied, and went to work.  For diner I had a salmon lunch box from Mitsuwa.

明日、ダウンタウンで『ヴァンヘイレン』のライブを見に行く！20年以上前から見たかったバンド。良いライブだといいね。

Tomorrow I'm going to see one of my favorite bands of all time, Van Halen, perform in downtown L.A.  I have wanted to see them play for more than twenty years!  Hopefully it will be a good show.

娘へ、

My Dear Daughter,

元気？パパは仕事と勉強が順調です。模擬テストとフラッシュカードの練習のため、働いている時間を減らしたが、同時に昇級されましたから悪くもないことです　(^_^)v

I hope you are well.  Bar studies and work are both progressing nicely.  I'm working less hours to accommodate my rather grueling mock test/flash card schedule, but also I managed to get a promotion.  So professionally things are good.

その反面、パパの今の私生活はちょっとね　(´＿｀｡)

でもまぁ、今までこれ以上の最低な時期、いくらでもありましたから、心配しないでね。これも乗り越えますから。

そういえば、通勤途中に下の写真に写っているおじさんを見かけた。パパの気持ちにそっくりだなと思ったから早速写真を撮りました。

I am having a bit of a rotten week personally but I have had worse.  I saw this old man on the side of the road on my way to work and instantly realized I had found a kindred spirit.  So I took his picture as he waited in the bushes (presumably for the bus).

This pretty much sums up the week I've had.

愛してるよ。また近いうち手紙を送ります。

I love you.  I'll write again soon.

娘へ、

My Dear Daughter,

今日君の米おばあさんは上の写真を送ってくれた。湖の別荘からの日没です。見た瞬間、「やっぱり、ニューヨークの田舎もいいかも」と思ったが、次の瞬間向こうの田舎の大変な冬や花粉問題を思い出した。やっぱりロスが一番だな　(^∇^)

Today your grandmother sent me the above photograph from their place at the lake in Upstate New York.  It was taken at sunset, looking west, towards Los Angeles (and Japan as well, I suppose).  It made me miss Upstate New York a bit.  At least until I remembered the winters and the seasonal allergies.

今日は戦没将兵追悼記念日（『Memorial Day』）だから休日。パパはジムに行って勉強した。そして下の写真をスーパーの駐車場で撮った。米おばあさんの写真に堂々負けましたが、確かにここでパパの性格が見える・・・

It's Memorial Day over here, so many people had the day off.  I celebrated by going to the gym and studying all day.  I also took the following picture in the parking lot of my local supermarket.  It is nowhere near as nice as your grandmother's picture, but I think it does a decent job of summarizing what I as your father find amusing.

『プードル女』の名をつける　(;^_^A

I call it, "Poodle Lady."

また今度ね。愛してる。

娘へ、

My Dear Daughter,

勉強ライフに戻りました　(^▽^;)

Welcome to my life for the next eight weeks.

ちゃんとした勉強プランを立てて、試験料を払って、そしてジャンクフードを一杯食べた（これから無責任なこと、絶対に出来ないから）　(^_^;)

I made a three-page long study plan that includes pretty much all the practice questions in my possession.  I signed up for the California Bar, paid the painful examination fee, and ate a ton of junk food, because today is the last day I can really let myself go.

テストの日までの手紙は短いだろうけどちゃんと送りますね。

愛してる。終わったら会いたいな。

I'll keep you posted on how things go.  I love you very much and I hope to see you after this is all over.
