True but that's not all ... how about
SNOW ! ... take a look ...
Went to the Big Island a few weeks ago and
took a tour to the Mauna Kea summit to see
the stars but instead got snow.
Mauna Kea summit is 4,200 meters high and is
home to many Astronomical Observatories from
over 10 countries. The summit is above the
clouds and a perfect place to see the stars.
If you have chance, I highly recommend the
"Stargazing Tour" to see the sunset and
stars. It's a long tour, from early afternoon
to late at night but well worth it.
Oh yeah, it's cheap.
The first stop is the Onizuka Visitor Center.
Here you rest for about a hour to acclimate to
the altitude.
Here we are given our dinner "bento", a japanese
boxed meal with a miso soup mix, hot chocolate
mix and a bottle of water.
So, the hour has past and looking up the mountain,
there's snow ...
We all board the 4WD van ...
Please remember the video you saw first ... it's a
rough ride up to the summit ... the roads are not
paved until the top. Upon reaching the summit, all
I saw was ... snow.
Well, no sunset and no stars ... only snow.
We stayed and watched the snow for a while until
the Park Rangers started to advise everyone to
leave due to the snow covering the roads.
By way, the bottle of water ... take a look ...
Returned to Oahu the next morning but on the plane
I got another treat ... the plane flew above the
summit and the snow ...
