以前にも何度か書いたかと思うワッデン海の島々。今までに行ったことのあるのは２つ、SchiermonnikoogとAmeland。今回このリストに一つを足せることになりました。Vlielandです。人が住んでいるオランダの５つのワッデン海の島々の中で一番小さく、行くのに時間がかかる島です。我々（特にDropと子供達）がよく遊びにゆくビーチのあるHarlingenの港（我が家から車で1時間程度）から船が出ていて、所要時間は約90分です。VlielandはSchiermonnikoogと同じく、自家用車を持ち込めない島です。我ら、DropとBoy1の自転車を持参し、Boy2と私は現地でレンタルすることにしました。
I wrote about the wadden islands I visited several times before. So far I had visited 2: Schiermonnikoog and Ameland. Now I can add a new island in the list. That is Vlieland. It is the smallest island in the 5 inhabited Dutch Wadden islands and takes the longest time to reach. The boat takes about 90 min from the harbor of Harlingen, which we (especially Drop and the children) visit very often to enjoy the beach (about 1 hour from our house). Vlieland is also an island where you cannot bring your car. We brought 2 of our bicycles, for Drop and Boy1, and decided to rent 2 for Boy2 and me on the island.
我らがこの島に渡った日はちょうど大きな嵐が近づいている日でした。大きな嵐にはだいたい名前がつくんですよね。この嵐にはCiarán（キアラン）と名付けられていました。早朝からコードオレンジという気象注意報が我らの住むFrieslandを含むオランダ西側全土に出ていました。このコードオレンジとは。

The day we went to the island a big storm was approaching. Big storms tend to have a name. The one we had is called Ciarán. The weather warning was code orange from early morning on that day in almost all west side of the Netherlands including our Friesland. The meaning of Code orange is:
Code Orange: be prepared There is a high risk of hazardous or extreme weather with a significant impact and a high risk of damage, injury or severe inconvenience.
私たちの予定はVlielandに２泊３日。島で過ごす時間を出来る限り長くするため、朝9時頃出発の船を予約していました。もしかして船がキャンセルになるのでは、と心配しましたが、ラッキーなことに船は予定通り運航されました。やった！
Our plan for this trip to Vlieland was to stay 2 nights. To maximize the time in the island, we reserved the earliest boat on the day, at around 9AM. We were a bit worried that the boat might got cancelled due to the storm. But luckily, the boat still sailed. YES!!
船と書いてますが、実際はフェリーです。島在住の人とビジネス関係の車（食材とかね。）だけはこのフェリーで島に渡れるのです。
The boat is actually a ferry. The people living on the island and all business related cars can go with this ferry to the island.
これが船のデッキ。写真では分からないですが、かなりの強風です。雲もすごいでしょう？
This is the deck of the boat. It was very windy although it does not look so on the picture. But the clouds are impressive.
約90分後、私達は無事にVlielandの港に到着しました。午後の船はキャンセルになったんだとその頃聞きました。再びほっ。
After 90 min of sailing, we safely arrived in the harbor of Vlieland. We heard at that time that the afternoon boat had actually been cancelled.
Boy2と私用の自転車をレンタルし、予約してあったアパートまでサイクリング。風はかなり強く、その中で自転車を漕ぐのはかなり大変でした。でも方向が完全に向かい風じゃなかったこともあり、結構早く到着することができました。アパートでちょっとリラックスした後、雨が小降りの時にちょっとビーチに出てみましたよ。
We rented bicycles for Boy2 and me and tried cycling to the apartment we stayed. It was very windy and the cycling was not so easy for us. But as the direction was not entirely against the wind, we could manage to get there quickly. We relaxed for a while in the apartment and while later went out a bit to the beach when the rain was not so much.
激しい風と波。こちらの雲もかなり印象的。
この嵐のせいで、その日は特に何もせず（ゆっくりしました）。我らの冒険は次の日から始まります。
Wild wind and wild waves. The clouds were also quite impressive.
Due to the storm, we didn't do so much on the day. Our adventure started from the next day.
映像はあまり大したことないですが、音から嵐が想像できるかな？
The movie is not so impressive but the sound is representing storm?
